We have reached a major milestone in our operations by upgrading our metrology capabilities with Aberlink’s largest CMM product, the Azimuth CMM (3000).
The investment positions us to deliver even faster turnarounds, stricter tolerance control and higher overall product quality as demanded by our customers.
The Azimuth CMM has a large bridge and is a highly accurate 3D inspection tool used to measure and verify the dimensions of large, heavy machined parts.
It does this through a specially designed load plate, which sits on the granite base. This plate enables the measuring of parts up to six tonne in weight, without the loss of metrology performance. This capability will significantly benefit our customers that operate in demanding environments and require large scale components with micron-level precision – it is fitted with 0.0001mm linear encoders for superior accuracy.
Incorporating the latest advancements in technology and materials, the Azimuth’s drive systems are engineered for simplicity and reliability and ensure excellent performance over the entire measuring volume. In addition, its innovative Y-axis mechanism ensures consistent performance across all machine sizes – ranging between two to three meters.
The equipment is supplied with a touch screen joystick, free software upgrades and no maintenance fees and training for our team.
More detailed specifications of the Azimuth CMM can be found here. For us, we’re looking forward to the speed and accuracy it can help us to deliver to clients.
Alongside the new CMM we have also invested in the design and build of a new inspection room which features a new jib crane to support in the lifting of heavy components, as well as electrical work and air conditioning installation for the room.
We’re delighted with the successful delivery of this CMM equipment. As it strengthens further our ability to deliver world-class precision engineering solutions for some of the world’s most demanding industries. These include defence, power generation, nuclear, renewables, subsea, and energy.
